The Modern Britain Council visited the Houses of Parliament as part of a study visit for their Rule of Law curriculum.

The Council set off at 6.30am to catch the train to London on Monday 25 June, one of the hottest days of the year.

"We had a brilliant time completing a workshop on campaigning for equal rights in modern Britain," said Miss Burn, Modern Britain co-ordinator.

"The students also had a tour of the House of Commons and House of Lords and met up with their local member of parliament Luke Pollard MP, who took time out of his busy schedule to answer questions from the council members.

"After our busy time in parliament the council members looked around Downing Street, Horse Guards Parade, Trafalgar Square and New Scotland Yard, which all had elements of Rule of Law in their visit.

"It was a very warm day and lots of ice cream was the order of the day before catching the train home to Plymouth.  We also discovered that we arrived at Paddington Station on Paddington Bear's Birthday!"
