Plymouth Raiders visit the College
The College welcomed two special guests on to work with students as part of the anti-bullying initiative Stand Tall Against Bullying.

Jeremy Bell and Colin O'Reilly are professional basketball players with the Plymouth Raiders who have been trained to deliver anti-bullying workshops.

The Raiders lead a group of nine students from Years 7, 8 and 9 in a number of sessions on 14 December 2012.

"They looked at what bullying is, the different types of bullying - in particular cyber-bullying - and also why people might become bullies," said ICT teacher Mr Kelly.

'Really interactive'

"They also were involved in discussions about how to identify bullies as well people who are victims of bullying and what to do if you, or people you know, are involved in bullying.

"It was a really interactive day with pupils taking part in discussions, group work, leading conversations and being involved in role plays all in the hope of gaining a better understanding of bullying and how to overcome it."

He added that the players were "hugely impressed" with the attitude and understanding of the students.

"Everyone gained some important information and knowledge from the day," he said.
