Gifted and talented dancers
Gifted and talented dance students from Stoke Damerel Community College have performed in front of an audience of more than 600 at a spectacular dance event.

At the Ivybridge Community College Gym and Dance Show 2012 on 15 December nine students danced alongside dancers from Ivybridge and performers from partner schools from as far afield as Israel.

Their three and a half minute piece was performed to Ben Howard's Wolves and was on the theme of Time.

Sixth former Jazmin said the reception they received was "brilliant".

The dancers worked on their routine for five weeks

"I was really nervous before we went on but we got a great reaction, it was amazing the way the show was put together.

"It felt like we were part of something professional and it was so good to be able to watch the other performers.

"The gymnasts from Israel were incredible."

The group of students from Years 9,10,11 and Sixth Form trained for five weeks to perfect their routine and dance teacher Mrs Secker said she was so "proud" of how the group performed.

"I'm always proud of them but this was quite daunting and they did extremely well and were so professional.

"It's great experience for them as well and it's really inspiring for them to see the other performances too."

Former College student Kerrie Walker, who is now at Plymouth University, was instrumental in creating the dance with Jenna, Olivia, Kes, Charmaine, Ariana, Esther, Steph, Abi and Jazmin.

"We're so grateful to Kerrie for the work she did, we're already looking forward to taking part next year!"
