The College's Sports Leadership Academy has had a strong start to this academic year - Mr Hammond fills us in.

" This year has certainly started with a bang for the College's sports leaders.

They have already supported eight city-wide and local festivals.

One particular highlight was the Plymouth School Sports Partnership hand-picking two of our students to support the Manchester School Games - the largest school games event in the country!

Both Rebecca (Year 11) and Olivia (Year 9) were incredibly proud to have been selected for this outstanding opportunity, and both have asked to go back next year.

Another fantastic event was the Year 3 and 4 multi-skills festival here at the College which was run by our Year 8 leaders.

Nine schools took part - each with a team of boys and girls and competed against one another for the crown. Montpelier Primary School were eventually named as champions.

We are currently recruiting new leaders with more Year 8s joining the team soon and Year 7s being selected in January.

The Leadership Academy had a phenomenal year last year, winning both Leadership Academy of the Year and Individual leader of the Year.

It will certainly be tough to match it this year but we always strive for the best."
