Silver Duke of Edinburgh Teams Triumph in Recent Expedition

Our Silver Duke of Edinburgh students set out on their final expedition—three days of hiking, camping, and navigating through the Devon countryside. It was a challenging adventure that took them out of their comfort zones and gave them the chance to put all their training and preparation into practice.

Each day brought a new stretch of the route. On Day 1, the teams set off from Ivybridge and made their way to South Brent. Day 2 involved a long walk from South Brent to Michelcombe, and on Day 3, the final leg of the journey took them from Newbridge to Dartmeet. The students camped overnight, carried their own gear, and worked together to navigate using maps and compasses.

It was clear to see how much progress the teams had made since their practice expedition. They used the feedback they’d been given, applied what they’d learnt, and showed real improvement in their planning, navigation, and teamwork.

Throughout the expedition, the students supported one another and stayed in good spirits, even when tired or facing difficult parts of the route. They managed their time well and completed each section on schedule.

Overall, the expedition was a great success. It was a true test of independence, teamwork, and resilience—and every student rose to the challenge.

A big well done to all the students who took part.
