Families Get Cooking in Food Tech’s Fun and Flavourful Workshop!

Laughter, learning, and the smell of simmering sauce filled the air as our Food Technology department welcomed students and their parents for a fun-filled afternoon of cooking and connection.

In a lively two-hour session, families rolled up their sleeves to cook a hearty batch of bolognese sauce from scratch. Some sat down together to enjoy their creation with a serving of spaghetti, while others packed it up to share at home. But the cooking didn’t stop there! Each family also took home ready-prepped ingredients to whip up two more tasty meals: chilli with wedges and sizzling fajitas.

The workshop wasn’t just about making delicious food—it was about making life a little easier too. Families learnt how batch cooking can stretch a food budget, save time during the week, and help avoid mealtime boredom with simple twists on a base recipe. It was a real eye-opener for many and a valuable lesson in practical cooking.

The event was a great success, with positive feedback from both parents and children, who enjoyed the chance to cook, learn, and spend quality time together. Many left feeling inspired to continue batch cooking at home and make the most of their new recipes.

Food technicians Mrs. Green and Ms. Hillman shared, “Once again, it was a fantastic event enjoyed by both students and parents, all thanks to the excellent organisation by Ms. Aldridge.”

We look forward to running more events like this in the future—bringing our school community together through food, fun, and learning.
