From Classroom to Crime Suite: Our Criminology and Sociology Students Explore Plymouth University

Our Criminology and Sociology students enjoyed an exciting day at Plymouth University, where they had the chance to explore what studying Criminology, Sociology, and Anthropology is really like. Through interactive workshops led by passionate university lecturers, they gained a first-hand taste of university life and the subjects they may choose to pursue in the future.
The highlight of the day was a hands-on session in the university’s crime suite, where students became detective investigators! They searched for clues, pieced together evidence, and presented their theories about what happened—and who might be responsible. It was a gripping, immersive experience that brought criminology to life right before their eyes.
The day also featured a captivating lecture from Dr. Ivan Tacey, an Anthropology lecturer with over 20 years of research experience studying the Batek people—hunter-gatherers living deep in one of Malaysia’s last tropical rainforests. His fascinating stories and detailed insights gave students a fresh perspective on Anthropology and university studies.
By the end of the day, many students were buzzing with excitement and seriously considering Criminology, Sociology, or Anthropology as their future paths. This visit wasn’t just a taster—it was an eye-opening adventure that sparked new ambitions and dreams!
