GCSE Success: SDCC Celebrates Remarkable Student Achievements

Congratulations to our amazing Year 11 students on their GCSE results!
GCSE Results Day was a moment of celebration and pride at Stoke Damerel Community College, as our Year 11 students marked the culmination of five years of hard work, determination, and resilience. There were smiles, cheers, and even a few happy tears as students opened their envelopes to reveal well-earned results that will help shape their next steps.
Stoke Damerel is proud to report another outstanding year of academic success, these results reflect the strength of our teaching, the dedication of our staff, and most importantly, the commitment and ambition of our students.
Headteacher Anita Frier said:
“These results are a credit to the determination, resilience, and ambition of our students. They have not only worked hard to achieve academic success - they have shown real character in shaping their own journeys. What is most inspiring is that every student here has written their own story. They’ve set their own goals, faced challenges with maturity, and taken the lead in their learning. We couldn’t be more proud.”
This year, students achieved impressive results across a broad range of subjects, including English, Sciences, Mathematics, and the Arts. Many have earned the grades needed to progress into Sixth Form, apprenticeships, or further specialist education.
Among the many success stories:
Sophie said: “I am so chuffed with my results! I worked really hard and I am so pleased it paid off. I’m going on to study A Level Drama, History and English Literature at Stoke Sixth Form. I hope to go on to university to become a teacher."
Josh shared: “I’m beyond shocked at my results! I am so proud of myself and very happy. Because of my results, I’ll be studying Double Sport and Medical Science at Stoke Sixth Form.”
Dawid added: “I worked hard and I’m pleased with my results. I’m so thankful for the support the teachers gave me along the way. I’m returning to Stoke Sixth Form to study A Level IT, Photography and Biology — I love IT and hope to follow that pathway.”
Oliwia, who earned a Grade 9 in both Polish and English Language, said: “I’m really pleased! I didn’t expect it, but the hard work paid off. I’m looking forward to studying Photography at Plymouth College of Art.”
Noah said: “I’m so happy and glad the hard work paid off. I’ll be studying A Level Psychology, English Literature and History at Devonport High School for Boys Sixth Form.”
Every student has their own unique story, and every success deserves recognition. Whether students are returning to Stoke Sixth Form, pursuing opportunities elsewhere, or stepping directly into the world of work, their achievements speak volumes about their determination and potential.
To those whose results may not have matched their expectations: you are not alone. Our doors are always open, and our staff are here to support and guide you. Every journey has its ups and downs — and this moment can still be the beginning of something great.
As we look ahead, we are excited to welcome many of our Year 11s back to Stoke Damerel Sixth Form, where they’ll continue to grow, explore, and prepare for the next stage of their lives.
To all our students — well done. Your achievements are a testament to your effort, your passion, and your perseverance. We wish you every success as you move forward and continue to make us proud.
Congratulations once again, Year 11 — your future starts now!
