Year 13 Students Experience Life at KPMG

Two of our Year 13 students were given a fantastic opportunity to complete work experience with KPMG, one of the world’s leading professional services firms specialising in audit, tax and advisory work.

Both Julia and Tobi are aspiring to pursue careers in accountancy, and this placement offered a powerful insight into what their futures may hold.

During the week, they worked alongside a variety of employees across different departments, including senior staff, apprentices, and professionals from tax, audit, advisory and IT. Year 13 student Tobi described how the experience developed throughout the week:

“On the first day, everyone was quiet, and I didn’t feel confident enough to ask questions. Within just three days, the room was full of questions and conversations with people across the firm. Every perspective was interesting and helped me see the kind of work I want to do in the future.”

The programme also helped students grow personally and professionally. They learnt about business values, workplace expectations and essential skills such as public speaking, problem-solving and networking. They also met students from across the country and formed lasting friendships.

Julia added:

“It was inspiring to be surrounded by people with similar aspirations who are determined to succeed. I’m so grateful to have been given this opportunity. It has motivated me to network more and build my knowledge so I can achieve my goal of becoming a chartered accountant.”

This remarkable experience has not only strengthened their ambition but has also equipped them with the confidence and skills needed to pursue their chosen career paths. We look forward to seeing where their journeys in the world of accountancy lead.
