Year 7 Boys Show Incredible Resilience in Devon Cup Thriller

The Year 7 boys kicked off their Devon Cup campaign this term with a dramatic first-round fixture against local rivals DHSB, delivering a performance full of determination, resilience, and composure under pressure.

After a challenging first half, the team went into the break 2–0 down. However, the boys showed fantastic character and belief, battling back in the second half to level the score at 2–2 and take the match into extra tension. Following a gruelling contest, the game was decided by penalties.

What followed was an outstanding display of accuracy, as the boys converted every single one of their penalties. With DHSB missing their ninth attempt, our team secured a thrilling 9–8 victory in the shootout. It was a remarkable demonstration of focus and confidence at such a young age.

The reward is an away trip to another grammar school in the next round of the competition - Colyton - offering a very different challenge from this local derby.

A special mention goes to Nate, who was named Player of the Match after looking dangerous throughout and leading the attack with energy and intent.

Well done to all the boys for an outstanding team performance - a fantastic start to the Devon Cup campaign!
