Royal Navy Instructors Bring Military Training Experience to Students

This week, four Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) from HMS Raleigh, the Royal Navy’s training facility in Torpoint, visited the school to give students a taste of military training. For one day, PE lessons became full-on PT sessions!

Students experienced elements of Initial Military Training (IMT), including drill, fitness exercises, and team challenges. Older students took part in advanced strength and conditioning sessions, while younger students enjoyed games that navy personnel play while at sea. The sessions were challenging, but fun — with plenty of red, sweaty, and smiling faces by the end of the day.

Year 10 student Alfie, commented,

“That was so hard but I loved it. The PTI's definitely know how to motivate you to push yourself to your limits. I didn’t know I could do so many push-ups and burpees!”

The visit was a fantastic opportunity to experience life in the Royal Navy, and we look forward to welcoming the team from HMS Raleigh again later in the year, giving interested students a chance to explore this as a potential career path.
