Budding Entrepreneurs: Year 7 & 8 Face the "Dragons"

We recently welcomed Young Enterprise and industry experts from Babcock for an exciting, fast-paced business challenge with our Year 7 and Year 8 students.

The goal? To turn a startup idea into a winning business. Our students spent the day working in teams to choose a company, manage the finances, and create a brand from the ground up.

To succeed, teams had to think like real CEOs. They worked hard on:

  • Finances: Working out the costs to keep their business running.

  • Marketing: Creating slogans and adverts to grab attention.

  • The USP: Deciding on their "Unique Selling Point" to beat the competition.

The day ended with a "Dragon’s Den" style pitch. Groups presented their ideas to the Babcock experts, who were incredibly impressed by the professional slogans and clever financial planning on display. The best teams walked away with prizes, but everyone left with new skills.

This wasn't just about business; it was about stepping outside of comfort zones. The session helped students:

  • Build Confidence: Presenting ideas to experts can be nerve-wracking, but our pupils rose to the challenge.

  • Think Creatively: Finding unique ways to advertise and stand out.

  • Dream Big: Many students left feeling inspired to one day set up their own companies.

"It was great to see everyone working together and coming up with such original ideas. They really showed what they are capable of!"

A big thank you to Young Enterprise and Babcock for inspiring our future business leaders!
