Alumni Spotlight: Freddie’s Fantastic First Year at Exeter

From the college common room to the university lecture halls, former student Freddie is making us incredibly proud as he wraps up a fantastic first year at the University of Exeter.
We are absolutely thrilled to report that our former student has embraced university life to the absolute fullest—balancing a flawless academic record with a buzzing social calendar.
We aren't surprised to hear that SDCC Sixth Form alumnus Freddie is excelling at university! He has maintained a 100% attendance record while aiming for a 1st or 2:1 in his upcoming first-year results. He’s already built a fantastic foundation for his degree and is targeting a Data Science placement year at Sky.
Through his course, Freddie has also expanded his horizons, making a wealth of new lifelong friends from both local and international backgrounds.
When he wasn’t in the lecture theatre, Freddie was throwing himself into campus culture, at Exeter’s student radio station. His passion and hard work behind the microphone truly shone through at the station's recent Summer Soirée, where Freddie walked away with the highly coveted Presenter of the Year award for his radio show! His technical dedication has also earned him a spot as "Head of Sound" for the upcoming academic year.
As if conquering his classes and the airwaves wasn't enough, Freddie also picked up a brand-new sport this year: Ultimate Frisbee. The sport has been a massive part of his university experience, helping him make new friends. To top off an incredible year, Freddie and his teammates tasted sweet victory by winning the beginners' tournament at Marjon!
Reflecting on his first year, Freddie shared how his time after Sixth Form has exceeded all expectations:
"It has been such an incredible year, and I've honestly loved every single moment of it - even if I'm not missing the exams right now! Between keeping up with my lectures, joining the radio station, and picking up Ultimate Frisbee, I've met so many amazing people from all over the world. Winning the tournament at Marjon and getting Presenter of the Year were definitely huge highlights. Sixth Form prepared me well, but university has been a whole new adventure, and I can't wait to see what next year brings as Head of Sound."
The entire Sixth Form College community sends massive congratulations to Freddie on an incredible first year. Enjoy the well-deserved summer break, Freddie - we can’t wait to see what you achieve in year two!
