Families Get Batch Cooking in Fun & Flavourful Workshop!

Laughter, learning, and the delicious aroma of simmering sauce filled the air recently as our Food Technology department welcomed students and their parents for a fantastic afternoon of cooking and connection.

During the lively two-hour session, families rolled up their sleeves to cook a hearty, scratch-made bolognese sauce. Afterwards, some sat down together to enjoy their creations over a bowl of spaghetti, while others packed it up to share at home. The culinary adventure didn’t stop there—to keep the momentum going, each family was sent home with pre-prepped ingredients and recipes to whip up two more delicious meals: chilli with potato wedges and sizzling fajitas.

Beyond crafting delicious food, the workshop focused on valuable, budget-friendly life skills. Families discovered the benefits of batch cooking, learning how preparing a single base recipe can stretch a weekly food budget, save precious time on busy weeknights, and easily transform into different dishes to keep mealtimes exciting.

"Once again, it was a fantastic event enjoyed by both students and parents, all thanks to the excellent organisation by Ms. Aldridge," shared food technicians Mrs. Green and Ms. Hillman.

The event was a resounding success, leaving everyone inspired to keep experimenting in the kitchen together. We look forward to hosting more of these wonderful events soon, bringing our school community closer through food, fun, and learning!
