Celebrating Excellence: Headteacher’s Awards Mark an Outstanding First Half Term

As we reach the end of our first half term, we are delighted to recognise a group of exceptional students who have received the prestigious Headteacher’s Award. T

hese awards are presented to individuals who have consistently gone above and beyond, shown incredible resilience, or made remarkable personal transformations in their attitude, effort, and engagement.

Across every year group, our students continue to inspire us, but this term’s award winners have set a brilliant standard for our whole school community.

Year 7: Setting the Standard from Day One

Taking the step-up to secondary school is a major milestone, but Jack W has taken it entirely in his stride. Just nine days into his time with us, Jack volunteered to assist at our Open Evening. He conducted himself with exceptional professionalism and maturity, answering questions from prospective families and confidently addressing a large audience. Beyond his fantastic start on the stage and in the classroom, staff have praised how seamlessly he has settled into school life, as well as his commitment as part of our new Football Academy. We are immensely proud of you, Jack!

Year 9: Dedication, Determination, and Growth

Three Year 9 students have truly stood out this term for their outstanding work ethic and character:

  • Vinnie W has made a fantastic start to the academic year. Alongside maintaining a perfect 100% attendance record, he regularly assists during tutor time and has eagerly signed up for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.

  • Julia P has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to mastering her reading and writing in English as a second language, as well as speaking and writing Polish fluently! Her continuous hard work and determination to excel have earned high praise from her teachers.

  • Joey W has shown remarkable maturity and resilience beyond his years, proving himself to be a wonderful role model for his peers.

Year 10: Creativity, Kindness, and Inspiration

In Year 10, our award winners have showcased the power of creativity, character, and community spirit:

  • Olivia T has officially been named our new Poet Laureate! Staff and students alike were blown away by the beautiful, moving poem she submitted, which saw her emerge as the overall winner of the competition.

  • Hollie H epitomises our core value to Be Kind. She consistently demonstrates exceptional positivity and resilience, using her own encouraging nature to inspire those around her. Thank you for making such a positive difference, Hollie!

  • William W also wowed us with his incredible literary talent. William possesses an exceptional ability to take any subject and weave it into a well-constructed, thought-provoking poem. We have no doubt that he is on the path to becoming a published author - keep writing, William!

Year 11: World-Class Discovery

In Year 11, we were left in absolute awe of Ruby E, who has been dedicating her own personal time to work alongside scientists at the University of Plymouth on a world-class research project.

Ruby has been searching for and examining microscopic cosmic particles that have fallen to Earth from deep space - and in her very first investigation, she successfully identified one! To hear Ruby speak about her passion for science and the hours she devotes to this project alongside her GCSE preparation is nothing short of inspiring. We are all thoroughly impressed by your extraordinary achievement, Ruby!

Congratulations once again to all our Headteacher’s Award winners for an incredible first half-term. You truly represent the very best of our school!
