Splashing into Water Safety: Year 7s Attend the Splash School Festival

A group of our Year 7 students headed to the Plymouth Life Centre to take part in the Splash School Water Safety Festival, delivered by Surf Life Saving GB in partnership with Active Devon.
The action-packed day was designed to teach essential, practical water safety knowledge in an engaging, interactive environment—combining crucial life-saving education with plenty of fun!
The event kicked off with a dedicated classroom session focused on beach awareness, hazards, and water safety rules. Students loved getting hands-on, dressing up in official lifeguard kit and even role-playing rip current rescues to practice real-life scenario responses. It proved to be a brilliantly fun, interactive way to learn potentially life-saving lessons.
For the second half of the day, students took to the diving pool to test their newly acquired skills in deep water. Using professional rescue gear, including life tubes and surfboards, students practised simulated rescues and worked together to pull their peers to safety.
The day was an absolute hit with everyone involved, with Jessica (Year 7) declaring it simply as:
"The best trip I've ever been on!"
A huge well done to all our Year 7 participants for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and brilliant effort throughout the day. You represented the school fantastically and came away with essential skills that will help keep you and others safe around water!
