Exploring the Globe: 7Y5's Journey Through Renaissance London with Virtual Reality

Miss Burroughs’ Year 7 English class recently had an exciting opportunity to use our brand-new Virtual Reality headsets during their English lesson. For the first time, students were transported back in time to explore the iconic Globe Theatre as it would have appeared during the Renaissance period.

As part of this immersive learning experience, students virtually wandered through the historic theatre, observing key details and examining period-specific objects. This interactive session brought history to life and provided a vivid sense of place and atmosphere.

Following their virtual exploration, students were challenged to write creative descriptions of the Globe Theatre, imagining what it might have been like during Shakespeare's time. The VR experience also included a walk through the streets of Renaissance London, offering a broader historical context to support their understanding.

This engaging activity served as a valuable introduction to the class's upcoming unit on Love, which will explore the themes of love in Shakespeare’s most famous plays. By stepping into the world in which Shakespeare lived and wrote, students gained a richer perspective to inform their studies.
