Students Unite for International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex-phobia, and Transphobia
Students from Stoke Damerel Community College and Scott Medical and Healthcare College came together in a vibrant show of support to mark IDAHOBIT — the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia, and Transphobia.
Wearing colourful accessories and symbols of pride, students across the campus stood together to promote inclusion, respect, and solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community.
IDAHOBIT is recognised in over 130 countries and serves as a global reminder of the importance of equality and acceptance. The date commemorates the World Health Organization’s 1990 decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases — a historic milestone in the fight against discrimination.
The day is dedicated to raising awareness, promoting education, and encouraging positive social change. Events like this help students and staff work together to build a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
By celebrating IDAHOBIT, the college community reaffirms its commitment to diversity, equality, and respect for all.
