Stoke Damerel Community College celebrates exceptional A-Level results

Stoke Damerel Community College is thrilled to announce another year of outstanding A-Level and BTEC results, with students achieving academic excellence and paving their own diverse and ambitious pathways to the future.

With a strong set of results across a wide range of subjects, the college’s Sixth Form continues to go from strength to strength — not just in terms of outcomes, but in empowering students to take ownership of their journey beyond the classroom.

This year, a significant number of students achieved top grades across a wide range of subjects, including Sciences, Mathematics, Sport and the Arts . Many are progressing to some of the UK’s top universities, apprenticeships, employment, and other high-quality post-18 destinations.

“Students are writing their own stories”

Headteacher, Anita Frier, praised the hard work and perseverance of students and staff alike:

“These results are a credit to the determination, resilience, and ambition of our students. They have not only worked hard to achieve academic success — they have shown real character in shaping their own journeys, whether that’s university, employment, or something completely different. What is most inspiring is that every student here has written their own story. They’ve set their own goals, faced challenges with maturity, and taken the lead in their learning. We couldn’t be more proud.”

Success Across the Board

This year, Stoke students have once again proven their dedication and hard work, with standout results that have set them on the path to university, careers in the police force, and exciting future opportunities. From those pursuing degrees at prestigious institutions to those stepping straight into professional roles, the achievements of this year’s students are nothing short of inspiring.

Amongst the most notable success stories are several students who have worked tirelessly to secure their future ambitions.

Olivia is heading to Plymouth’s Marjon University to study Sports Science. “I’m delighted to have got my place doing the course I wanted. I worked really hard but I wouldn’t have done it without the help and support of my teachers,” she said, beaming with excitement.

Emma will be heading to Cardiff University to study Human and Social Sciences. “I was so nervous to get my results, but I did even better than I expected. I’m so pleased,” Emma shared, her relief and joy evident in her voice.

Oscar, who immersed himself in all aspects of school life – from being House Captain to performing in the school’s musical productions – is now headed to the University of Bristol to study Sociology. “I put my all into sixth form life, and I made lifelong friends along the way. The support of the teachers was incredible, and I worked hard every step of the way,” Oscar said. “Now I’ve got the best ending of all: the grades I needed to study Sociology at Bristol.”

Geri will be taking her passion for psychology to Exeter University after receiving the grades she needed. “I’m really pleased with my results. Revision was key, and practising past papers really helped. Now, I’m going to celebrate with my friends and start preparing for university life!”

Olivia, couldn’t believe her incredible results. “I don’t have any words!! I am beaming from ear to ear and can’t believe I got 3 Distinctions*!” she said. “I worked really hard, and it’s so nice to have the results in my hand to show how much I’ve put in. I’m off to Plymouth University to study Cyber Security now!”

Other students have also secured fantastic opportunities. Tia will be taking the first steps toward her career as a Police Constable, while Holly T will study Sports Therapy at Marjon University. Meanwhile, Holly E will head to Plymouth University to study Politics.

High-Quality Teaching and Exceptional Support

The college credits this year’s success to a combination of expert teaching, a strong pastoral support system, and a commitment to high expectations. Students benefit from a vibrant, inclusive learning environment where individual needs are recognised and celebrated. The College is highly committed to strengthening and growing the Sixth Form, as its new Sixth Form Centre officially opens this September, enabling more students to benefit from the outstanding facilities and teaching.

Head of Sixth Form, Martin Tinkler, said:

“Our Sixth Form is about more than just grades – it’s about preparing students for life. We’re immensely proud of what they’ve achieved this year. Whether they’re heading to the University of their choice, taking on an apprenticeship, or exploring other opportunities, each student leaves us more confident, capable, and ready for the world. We take time to understand what success looks like for each individual. That personalised support makes all the difference.”

Looking to the future

Stoke Damerel Community College’s Sixth Form continues to grow in numbers and ambition, with a broad and balanced curriculum, leadership opportunities, and strong connections with local and national employers as the College continues to strive to be World Class.

This year’s results are a reflection not only of academic excellence, but of the college’s belief in every student’s ability to aspire, achieve and thrive.

As one student put it: “This school didn’t just teach me what to think – it taught me how to believe in my future.”
