Year 7 Students Bring Samba to Life!

This half term, our Year 7 students have been fully immersed in the rhythms of samba. They’ve been playing a range of instruments, from the deep beat of the Surdo to the bright tones of the Agogo, learning how to combine their sounds to create a lively, cohesive band.

Many students have also taken on the role of band leader, composing simple call-and-response phrases for the rest of the group to follow. Huge well done to Bella, Liam, TJ and Evie for demonstrating excellent leadership skills of the Samba Band and keeping your rhythms consistently in time! It has been wonderful to see so many Year 7s performing as soloists, showing confidence and musical creativity so early in their time at Stoke Damerel.

We would like to thank the Devon Music Hub for lending us these instruments, which are not easy to source, making this exciting musical experience possible.

Our Year 7s have shown that music can be fun, collaborative, and full of energy!
