Year 7 Experience an Unforgettable Big Day Out!

Year 7 students stepped away from their usual timetables for the annual Big Day Out, spending a fantastic day building team spirit alongside their tutors and House teams.

The day was packed with discovery and activity across Devonport. The first stop was the impressive Market Hall, where students stepped inside the state-of-the-art immersive dome. Surrounded 360 degrees by vibrant visuals, Year 7s were transported across the cosmos in a thrilling space film before zooming in to explore the hidden world of human biology in a film about cells. The interactive experience left students mesmerised by the sheer scale of science and space.

"Going inside the dome was incredible – it felt like we were actually flying through space!"

— Bella, Year 7

Transitioning from high-tech science to the great outdoors, the cohort then headed over to Devonport Park. Here, our fantastic Sports Leaders took charge, guiding the younger students through a series of energetic, team-building activities:

  • Capture the Flag: A high-energy competition that tested strategy, speed, and teamwork.

  • Nature Walk & Scavenger Hunt: A chance to explore the park's local wildlife and green spaces while solving clues together.

  • Park & Recreation Time: An opportunity for students to relax, socialise, and deepen friendships outside the classroom.

"Capture the Flag was my favourite part of the whole day. It was such a fun way to get to know everyone in my year better!"

— Alfie, Year 7

The Big Day Out was a resounding success, setting a wonderful tone for the academic year and helping Year 7 feel fully connected to their Houses and tutor groups.

A huge thank you to our brilliant Sports Leaders and staff for making the day so memorable!
