Celebrating Diversity and Representation: Miss Honeyghan Speaks at National NASUWT Black Teachers Conference

With Black educators remaining under-represented across the UK education sector, the NASUWT teaching union hosted its annual Black Teachers Conference - a dedicated platform to raise awareness, share insight, and celebrate the vital contributions of Black educators.
At the recent national event, our very own Head of Year, Miss Honeyghan, represented the Plymouth area as a featured panellist. She shared her personal experiences as a Black educator while highlighting the positive work being done to support diverse school communities and staff.
Reflecting on the importance of representation in schools, Miss Honeyghan shared:
"Embracing diversity and culture wasn't just about representation—it was about creating an environment where every student could see themselves reflected in their leaders and feel empowered to thrive. When we celebrate our differences and listen to diverse voices, we build a richer, more inclusive community for both staff and students."
Beyond her spot on the panel, the conference provided a valuable opportunity to network, exchange best practice, and connect with fellow educators from across the country.
A huge congratulations to Miss Honeyghan on taking to the stage and contributing to such an important national conversation!
