Stoke Damerel Community College

Netball and Bake Sale Fundraiser

Two of our amazing students recently raised over £200 for Cancer Research. Cobie and Daizie, organised a bake sale and a charity netball tournament where staff took on staff and students took on students.

The tournament was great fun and engaged a lot of additional staff and students and the bake sale was a huge success too!

The girls took all planning very seriously, coordinating and selecting all the staff and students who were involved in the netball tournament as well as ensuring there were plenty of sweet treats on offer at the bake sale. They also set up their own Just Giving pages and even drummed up family support too.

Mr Harris said, "Both Cobie and Daizee approached me with the idea to raise money for Cancer Research as it is a charity both girls are extremely passionate about and have been affected by. The girls were keen to enhance their character curriculum profile, which allows students to develop outside the classroom and receive praise and reward for doing so.

The girls showed maturity and endeavour far beyond their years and were very organised with every inch of the planning. I am very proud of them for putting on such a great day and raising awareness of such a worthy cause. Both girls are fantastic students and great ambassadors for Stoke Damerel. We would like to thank all the staff and students who contributed to the success of the day."

Well done to both girls!
