Barbican Theatre’s The Rebels Youth Company delivers workshop with dance students

Our Dance students enjoyed a visit from the Barbican Theatre’s The Rebels Youth Company this week.

The workshop was run by Charlie and focused on contemporary and commercial choreography. The students had the chance to take control and create their own dance choreography with the help and advice from professionals. Students worked in pairs or groups of three, to create a creative piece.

Charlie said “Everything we do is designed by, and for young people around Plymouth. It was so nice to see the students getting really involved, taking it seriously but also really enjoying themselves. The students have been able to develop key skills through the workshop including collaborative working, listening and teaching skills, and had the chance to be really creative.”

The students learned a huge amount about the world of commercial choreography with many saying they wanted to explore this as a career. There were lots of smiles and enthusiasm by the end of the workshop.

Thank you so much to the Rebels Youth Company, we’d all love you to come back soon!
