Royal Navy's Ready, Steady, Cook Workshop Inspires Year 10 Students

Excitement filled the air as our Year 10 students welcomed two esteemed members of the Royal Navy Catering Services Branch for a one-of-a-kind culinary experience.

The Ready, Steady, Cook type workshop brought the thrill of the kitchen into the classroom, igniting creativity and teamwork amongst the eager participants.

Divided into equal teams, the students embarked on a Master Chef-style challenge, armed with nothing but their culinary ingenuity and a box of ingredients for two dishes. With recipe sheets in hand and the guidance of the RN team, the students set out to craft delicious main courses and desserts within the allotted time frame.

With ingredients generously provided by the Royal Navy, the students cooked a range of meals from burgers and fries to decadent biscuits and fresh cream.

The workshop was more than just a cooking lesson; it was a test of initiative, teamwork, communication, and timekeeping skills. As the students navigated through the flurry of activity, they learnt to collaborate effectively, communicate ideas, and manage their time efficiently under pressure.

As the workshop drew to a close, the students savoured the fruits of their labour by trying their meals.

A huge thank you to the Royal Navy's Catering Services Branch. For many, the experience kindled newfound career aspirations, opening their eyes to the exciting opportunities after their GCSE's.
