Unforgettable Battlefields Trip for EBACC Students
Last week, forty-six fortunate EBACC students embarked on an unforgettable journey through Belgium and France, experiencing the trip of a lifetime. The coach departed the college at 6am on Monday morning, filled with excited students eager for the adventure ahead. After a day of travel, they arrived at the Flanders Lodge in Ypres, Belgium, where they enjoyed an evening of food and fun.
On Tuesday, the students plunged into a jam-packed schedule of visits and activities, starting with the Welsh National Memorial Park and Langemark German Cemetery. They then visited Tyne Cot Cemetery before heading to the Passchendaele Museum. After a brief stop for packed lunches, they continued to the Hill 60 Memorial, followed by the In Flanders Fields Museum. The day concluded with a visit to the Leonidas Chocolaterie, dinner at Gasthof Restaurant in central Ypres, and the Menin Gate Last Post ceremony at 8pm.
Wednesday was equally exciting, with a full day at Parc Astérix, enjoying the theme park rides, and shows complete with packed lunches. By 5pm, the group was on their way to Paris, checking into the Premiere Classe MLV Bussy.
Thursday brought the magic of Disneyland Paris, where the students enjoyed a full day of fun and adventure followed by attending the late night Disney Light and Firework show.
Both students and staff returned exhausted but deeply inspired, filled with admiration for the soldiers of the past and enriched with new knowledge and experiences to enhance their future studies.
Year 8 student Izzy commented on the trip, saying: “ I had the best time away. It was so much fun to see all the different sites. The teachers were absolutely amazing, and I am so grateful to them for organising this amazing opportunity”.
