Combined Cadet Force
The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at Stoke Damerel is a partnership arrangement with Plymouth College - about eight years ago Plymouth College approached our College to see if we would like to form a partnership with them and years later our students continue to benefit from this fantastic arrangement.
Utilising the expertise and excellent facilities at Plymouth College each year Year 10 students have the opportunity to involve themselves with CCF, with many of them continuing through Year 11 and on to the Sixth form.
Students undertake eight weeks of basic training with the opportunity to experience what the Army, Navy and Air Force section have to offer.
They then take part in First Glance, an overnight exercise taking part in activities at Tregantle Fort, Jupiter Point and HMS Raleigh, before making their selection about which service they would like to join.
Throughout the course of the year students have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of trips and residential activities.
Opportunities to develop teamwork and leadership are an inherent part of everything we do at CCF and combined with the independence and resilience that new challenges offer, CCF is an excellent opportunity for our students to really thrive and develop.
From passing their weapon-handling test to live firing on a range, experiencing flying opportunities and developing their navigation skills to becoming a powerboat instructor CCF is a treasure trove of opportunity for cadets willing to show enthusiasm and, most importantly, commitment.
